click, call or visit a store today. it was a virtual sports tournament, but the gunfire was real and deadly. three people killed. among them the gunman. >> good evening and thank you for joining us. >> a short time ago we got this picture of the suspect in the jacksonville shooting, seen here from a previous competition. he has been identified as 24-year-old david katz. >> he is thought to be the lone gunman in this incident. >> three people with dead including katz. >> 11 others were injured. the shooting took place inside a restaurant that was hosting the

tournament. victor with what we know about the investigation. >> reporter: the horror of the mass shooting captured by this live stream of the madden '19 video game competition. the video stream stops but the shooting continues. panic breaking out at the jacksonville landing. >> everyone just started running, running, running and the gunshots were everywhere. >> one pro gamer says he was among the injured in the shooting tweeting, i am literally so lucky. the bullet hit my thumb. >> first responders rushing to the scene, searching for the gunman. >> there were three deceased individuals at the scene. one of those being the suspect who took his own life. shooting started after an argument over a game. >> he was here for the competition. >> fbi agents now assisting the

sheriff's office in the investigation of the mass shooting. well, investigators were seen searching the home of the suspected shooter in baltimore. witnesses reported seeing heavily armed fbi and atf agents escorting a man and woman. >> the tournament in jacksonville was sponsored by a bay area company. ea sports is based out of redwood city and the company creates video games like the madden video game. the company released this statement saying the tragic situation that occurred sunday in jacksonville was a senseless act of violence that we strongly condemn. now, competitive gaming is an emerging sport. and we spoke to one gamer who shed some light into how intense things can get during competition. >> screaming, pushing each other and everything.

hit his bike. police released this video. a gold honda civic. >> everybody has to go at one moment, but the way that it happened is, you know, is very painful and could have been avoided. >> i came to the hospital the day he passed. that was the tragedy when we found out he couldn't heal from his injuries. >> reporter: he met kevin in college 40 years ago. they were best friends until the day kevin passed. they spent the afternoon in golden gate park eulogizing kevin. but vince and others do expect that kevin's death will not be in vain. >> he didn't deserve that. the person who did that should have definitely stopped and connected on a human level.

>> reporter: and she is working to raise money to build protected bike lanes here along to prevent any future tragedies. kate lar son, abc 7 news. kate, thank you. hundreds of people remembers a young woman with ties to the bay area who was murdered. her body was found on tuesday more than a month after she vanished. her father and one of hur high school teachers spoke during today's funeral mass. >> they presented a positive message, encouraged all of us to remember the good things. >> how easy she was to get along with, how like just how easily she could make everybody smile and how mature she was for her age. >> a farm worker faces charges for her death. tributes still pouring in tonight for senator john mccain

the screen. as you go through the mid-morning we have been through this for several weeks now. so by the afternoon, sunshine will dominate the sky by 1:00, even over san francisco. so highs across the region. these numbers once again are below average. so certainly cool by august standards. only 79 in concord. 78 the high and san jose a cool city. 68 in oakland. only 72 in santa rosa. a high of only 61 degrees. the good news, our air quality over the next 24 hours is gradually improving. you can see a majority of the region has good air quality and air quality will continue on tuesday so we can breathe easier the next couple of days. it is a tropical depression right now. that's as weak as it could get.

steph curry has written an article calling the close the pay gap between men and women. the father of three including two girls recently hosted a basketball camp for girls. >> now, in it he said i want our girls to grow up knowing that there are no boundaries that could be placed on their futures, period. i want them to grow up in a world where their gender does not feel like a rule book for what they should think or be or do and i want them to grow up believing that they could dream big and strive for careers where they will be treated fairly. i think things like this is what makes steph curry and really the team so special. >> i would hope all fathers and daughters would feel that way. i know i do. >> to come out publically.

oakland picked up its 79th win of the season today against the twins. that's more wins than any team in the national league by at least three games. still, they're fighting for the division lead. this guy is happy because the
